Two Rich Men and Jesus (Luke 18:18-19:10)

Two Rich Men and Jesus (Luke 18:18-19:10)

Series: The Gospel Of Luke

We are quick to point out how Jesus dictates moral values such as honesty, sexual purity, and the sanctity of human life. Yet for many, money is often the unspoken topic because people become very unapproachable when it comes to their income. Yet, do we see how much Jesus talked about money in the gospel of Luke? Caring for the poor, lending and giving are common topics in His preaching (see Luke 6:35, 38; 7:22). He rebukes a covetous man for his divisive focus on his inheritance (12:13-15), illustrates with the parable of a rich fool only inviting the rich to their tables (14:12-15), preaches about stewardship in referring to the unjust steward, and the rich man and Lazarus, and in chapter 18 and 19 he contrasts two rich men as the topic is broached once again. What might we learn from these two encounters?
