Overcoming The Greener Grass Syndrome

This is a saying which speaks to our desire to always think things are better somewhere else.  In farming terms, the cow may leave his own pasture because “the grass is greener on the other side” so he goes searching for a new pasture.  However, when the cow gets stuck in the fence on the way to the other side the reality of the situation tends to damper the previous optimistic expectations.  Sometimes the same can happen to us.  We think things are better on the other side but, sometimes, the real problem lies within ourselves.  If we are being candid the greener grass syndrome may very well be a spiritual weakness.
