TIMELINESS                By Carl McMurray

We often emphasize the action and spirit of our worship in our studies, but I wonder if we realize how much a spirit of timeliness also affects our service of worship.  When we fail to plan ahead, give ourselves extra time, and arrive early for Bible classes and worship we…

...cheat our children and other children out of Bible study because they not only miss out by arriving late but take valuable class time to settle down and get their minds in the study mode.

...rob others of their worship experience because we and our children are distractions.  In younger classes this is especially a problem, but it is also disturbing for people to be going up and down the aisles looking around for seats during worship activities (singing, prayer, Bible readings, preaching, the Lord’s Supper).

Make timeliness a priority in your worship experience to help you, yours, and those around you.  Everyone will be late sometimes, but consistent tardiness demonstrates a problem.  And if by chance you do arrive late for worship, pause at the back and come in AFTER the specific act of worship is completed to avoid distracting others.
