SHALL WE DO OUR PART?   By Carl McMurray

Back in the day when Doctors still made house calls, one such physician received a call from a man with a very sick wife. The call came late at night in the midst of a very bad storm. However, even though the Dr’s car was in the shop, he replied that he would come out, if the husband would come and pick him up.

After a moment of quiet on the phone line, the husband said, “You mean you want me to come out on a night like this?”

Sometime it is possible that we ask incredible things from the Great Physician and He is more than happy to do those things, but He wants some participation, some sharing in the effort, and being involved in effort is not in our plans. When we ask for wisdom, are we studying and listening? When we ask for for healing, do we spend that good health in service or worship? When we ask on behalf of others, do we tell them so that God gets the glory? Shall we really ask  God to do for us, as we consider it incredible that we should do for Him.
