HE IS WATCHING OVER YOU           by Carl McMurray

God’s wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant. A horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first. A cow gets up with its two hind legs first. An elephant is different. The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other quadruped is so made. God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs. For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.

Would the Father be so careful about how an animal gets up, and not bother with how man, the glory of His creation gets up?  I’m not speaking of how we rise from the ground, but how we “get up” in our attitude, so that we can deal with the cares of this life in a positive fashion. We are made special, like the elephant. It is not in fussing and whining and passing blame that we will “get up” and go on with life. Instead, we are created to get good feedback from doing right things. Want to be positive and have an uplifting attitude? Don’t wait for it to just appear. Do good and you will feel better. Obey the word of the Lord and confidence will rise. Trust God’s value system and you will begin to value yourself.

Again, God’s accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs.

              -the eggs of the canary, robin, & bluebird hatch in 14 days;

              -those of the barnyard hen hatch in 21 days;

             -the eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days;

             -those of the mallard in 35 days;

             -the eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days.

See anything unique about the above? They are all divisible by seven , the number of days in a week! I find it interesting that the same God who develops the birds of the air by weeks, also develops us by weeks like creatures bound to leave this earth in flight. Every week we have the opportunity to pool our experiences, share our burdens, and be lifted up in one another’s joys. We gather on the Lord’s day to praise the Creator and be renewed in each other. We are spiritually nourished at the table of the Lord each week, and we practice, in our small way, giving, to get a little taste of what has been given so richly for us. Every week we assemble to compare notes and develop. Unlike the birds of the air, what we get out of our weekly development is up to us; it is our choice.

The lives of each of us may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way for His glory,
if we will only entrust Him with our life, Matthew 10:29-31.
